A variety of greenery in swatches
Share
With summer setting in a variety of green can be observed in nature. What's a better excuse than that to swatch a variety of green inks on different papers. We chose a collection of green shaders and sheeners to test out on 3 different papers. TomoeRiver, Midori and the new Teranishi Guitar notebooks with their own type of paper.
First of a quick review on the Teranishi Guitar Notebook. Teranishi refers to this paper as cream, however it is alot lighter compared to TomoeRiver cream ans alot whiter compared to Midori. None the less I like the subtle hue it gives off. Now about the writing experience. Its ultra smooth almost as if you're writing on glass. The properties are somewhere in between Midori and TomoeRiver, relatively fast drying, showing off sheen and shading properties great. What a do notice is that when swatching with a Kakimori dip pen is scratches the surface a bit more compared to the other two types of paper. The Kakimori dip pen has these micro machining marks fromw hen it was made, you can feel the ridges when you go over them with your nails. On the Midori paper it is also noticeable. This results in more ink being absorbed into the paper and giving a darker more saturated look. In the swatches is looks kind of off but in wiritng samples this allows for more contrast and I quite like it! Now I don't own a flex nib, nor is my penmanship in any way capable of writing with a flexib, but I can imagen that using this paper in combination with one it would really show off the saturation difference.
